Argan oil and conditioner: where each fits in your hair routine

Keep conditioner as its own step; use argan oil as an optional finishing step. A bottle of oil and a formulated conditioner are different products. Having both in your routine does not mean you need to apply more of either.

Start with the job of your conditioner

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends conditioner after washing to help with detangling and manageability. Follow your conditioner’s instructions, including whether it should be rinsed out. A leave-in product has its own directions and should not automatically be used like a rinse-out formula.

When choosing your routine, begin with what already works. If you are happy with your wash products, introduce an oil separately so you can judge whether you enjoy the additional finish.

Where Arganaire fits

Arganaire is a single-ingredient grooming oil for hair and beards. It can be applied to damp or dry hair, focusing on mid-lengths and ends. Its role in this routine is a controlled finishing step, rather than a reason to abandon cleansing or conditioning.

Keep layering deliberate

If your routine already includes a leave-in conditioner, styling cream and serum, adding oil is another choice—not a requirement. Avoid adding several new finishing products together. Otherwise, a heavy result tells you very little about which step to adjust.

A simple routine record can help: write down the products used, the order and whether the finish suited you. Keep the useful steps and reconsider those that do not earn their place. The aim is a routine you can repeat comfortably.

What about heated styling?

Heat protection is a separate consideration. The American Academy of Dermatology advises limiting excessive heat and using a heat-protection product. Arganaire is not presented as a replacement for that product.
